This song is to help students celebrate the victories of others, not just their own. My intention with this song is that it will generate meaningful discussion in the classroom about what it means for kids to be "others-centered" and not just "self-centered." I certainly DO want to maintain students' high self-esteem and realize this is critically important in the early grades. HOWEVER, I want to challenge students that they are not the ONLY important one in the room and that they can celebrate the victories of OTHERS just as much as their own victories. The topics of jealousy, being content, and being a good sport can also be discussed with this song.
